All I have to contribute is this: I'm so glad to have found someone else who can recognize Adam Lambert for the pile of shit that he is. I've hated him and his "rocker look" and his "singing" from day 1. I think from now on I'll just have to make use of the mute button on my remote. Becaus otherwise he just pisses me off.

I'm not saying they should sing original songs (not all of 'em have the capacity for that), but rather that they should sing current songs. Let's say any song from the Top 40 within the last five years. Even then, they can be subdivided into themes or genre nights, so the show's format won't go off the rails. But it would be current. And that seems to be a big issues with the judges when the kids sing these thirty-year-old songs.

As for Adam, I might hate him less if the show recognized him for the poser he is. And if the judges addressed his singing ability vs. his Black Canary screech. But instead, they worship him to the point of absurdity, which only adds fuel to my ire.

You're right, though, that the judges can flip. Last year, they loved Michael Johns until they randomly decided that David Cook was a better value. Then they started crapping on Johns and supporting Cook (even when he sang "original" covers, which was a joke). One rocker for another. So switching allegiance from Alexis to Allison makes sense. The problem is, I don't yet see a parallel for Adam. They don't need one, certainly. Still, they can (and hopefully will) sour on him in the coming weeks.

Frankie sez: "Look, I say this every year, but why they hell don’t they give these kids a contemporary theme every week? There should be one “Classics Night” a season. One. End of story. Because forcing these contestants to sing music from before they were born helps no one. They can’t wrap their minds around the material, the judges can’t help but compare them to the originals, and the songs have zero bearing on what people are listening to now, in the 21st century."

Yup. What's funny is, the contestants end up doing covers of covers. No doubt Jasmine chose "I'll Be There" because of the Mariah Carey version she listened to when she was 11 years old or whatever. And David Cook is doing a cover of Chris Cornell's cover "Billie Jean." Remember what they say about copies of copies - and how the quality starts to fade? Yeeeeah.

But let's face it, if they show had them perform original songs, people would stop watching. The song familiarity makes it fun for viewers. The Show needs to stop harping on that "contemporary" point, though, when these themes are created by them. As Liz Lemon might say, "D'yyyoi!"

Also, Frank, laughing muchly at Paula looking like Madame. HAA!

I don't share your intense and deep hatred of Adam Lambert, but I'm really much less enthralled than the judges. Adam, right now, is giving them what they want. I'm guessing he won't be versitale, and in a few weeks, the judges will start critiquing him for being too "Anthem Arena", after putting him there. Then he will begin to falter when they back another horse. Think about it - the judges have already soured on Alexis Grace after pushing her in our faces for weeks.

And look at David Cook... The Show didn't give a fuck about him until about halfway through the season. Matt, Kris, Allison and Megan have "dark horse" potential. They have already probably abandoned Anoop, so watch him get slammed next week....

The Show is heartily backing Gokey and Lil Rounds; RIGHT NOW they are backing Adam, but somehow, I don't think the honeymoon will last.
