desert, dessert

Tatooine is a desert, a sandy expanse with little moisture. Everybody loves dessert, a course of cookies and cakes and pie served after a meal. Everybody wants more dessert, so 'dessert' gets two Ss. Nobody except Sand People wants more desert, but they're daft to begin with, so they don't get to determine word usage.
