fair, fare

fair, fare

Fair means free from bias. It also means neither excellent nor awful. A fare is what you pay to ride a bus or subway. As a verb, it means to turn out. She fared well on her exam. Darth Vader did not fare as well as she did because he had run out of asthma medication during the math section.
