Style Guide of Common Errors in English Grammar for Writers
sentence fragment

fragment

Sentence fragments. Not good. Hard to figure. That's three right there. It's best to avoid these darned things. Look at your sentence. If you can't find a subject and a verb, chances are you got yourself a bona fide sentence fragment. That said, I find them useful in certain cases. I use them for humor or as a rhythmic break between longer sentences. William Safire says good writers don't use them. Fuck William Safire. My guidelines are: Never overuse them. If you are not confident in your writing, don't ever use them. If you think you are god's gift to writers, chances are you suck at writing and shouldn't use them. Fragments are especially useful for writing dialogue. "Ya hear what I'm layin down, Safire? Pfft, whatever, dude."
