Style Guide of Common Errors in English Grammar for Writers

whit, wit

A whit is an informal unit of measure meaning a jot or a little bit. Wit is not an abbreviation of witch, rather it is an amusing expression or observation. Wit is generally taken to be more rare than common toilet humor. Alternatively, it means one's senses, e.g. I'm at my wit's end, or keep your wits about you, or I'm losing my wits.

Despite the new military equipment from Destro's company, the Cobra forces didn't fare a whit better against G.I. Joe.
