The best and worst of the 2008 TV season

By Frank Pittarese

Knight Rider (NBC, 8 pm) is a continuation/spinoff of the semi-classic Beverly Hills 902 -- oh, I'm sorry, I meant to say Knight Rider. This Hoff-less enterprise stars Justin Bruening as the son of Michael Knight and Val-Frickin-Kilmer as the voice of K.I.T.T. Times must be hard, Mr. Kilmer. Of all the shows to resurrect...why this one? Why not Quantum Leap or V? Knight Rider is completely unnecessary.

Prediction: Knight Rider will run out of gas before Christmas. NBC has ordered four more scripts, but come on...

Recommendations: Watch Pushing Daisies (ABC, 8 pm)! Here are some keywords: smart, funny, colorful, beautiful, funny, sweet, dark, romantic, sad, funny. Really, there's nothing like it on TV. The dialogue is fantastic, the characters have actual depth, and it's visually stunning. I can't recommend this show enough. Also worth your time: Bones (Fox, 8 pm). After years of wondering who watched this show, I now find myself as one of those people. For a show about rotting corpses and decomposing body parts, it's quite lively, and in a world where everything is serialized, the (usually) done-in-one episodes are very refreshing. I'd watch Private Practice (ABC, 9 pm), but I'm afraid it will make me grow ovaries.
