Brawl was a Combaticon who joined up to form the Devastator-esque, nee Voltron-esque Bruticus. Jesus, I had bailed on Transformers by the time this guy came out. Combaticons? C'mon Hasbro, that's really lazy, even for a kids' toy.

Hasbro had decided by this point (1986) that the Devastator concept was totally super cool and more should be made and they should be made to look as cheap and shoddy as possible. It's the kind of thinking that divided the G.I. Joe and Transformers lines between slightly older and younger kids, respectively.
