G.I. Joe's sailor who spent precious little time at sea

Hector "Shipwreck" Delgado was one of the cartoon series' favorite characters. He had a very Klinger-esque (from M.A.S.H.) treatment: First he was comic relief, as in "hoho, look what that crazy Shipwreck got himself into this week!" Like Klinger, he got thrown a dramatic episode here and there so that he wouldn't pull a McLean Stevenson. Shipwreck had a Cobra agent love interest that ended tragically. In another episode, he was the victim of some sweet Cobra brainwashing that almost drove him insane. Synthetic copies of his loved ones melted in front of his eyes. Awesome stuff for a kids show. I'm not sure if the previous sentence was sarcastic.

Shipwreck had a parrot, thereby contributing to the inevitable G.I. Zoo. The parrot was featured way, way too much in the cartoon.
