Super Awesome Day 2009 Holiday Gift Guide

If Christmas has taught us anything, it’s that gifts are an extremely important measure of one’s self worth. Super Awesome Day, now in its fifth awesome year, is even more focused on commerce. Its convenient location on the calendar a full 24 hours after December 25th makes it ideally suited for last minute shopping.

The second most important thing to getting gifts is giving gifts…particularly those that you want yourself which you wrap for an unlucky schlub in the hopes that you get to play with it while he sobs in the corner for the framed family portrait he wanted in the first place. Man, that’s sad.

Anyway, I’ve compiled a list of things that I would certainly want to play with. I’ll even play with you…if you promise not to sob.

We’re happy to say that we’ve found a great charity to distribute toys to needy children during the holiday season: Island Harvest. We checked them out and they have very low administrative costs (which means that donations go to the cause rather than someone’s tax shelter). MaximumAwesome.com was thrilled to donate several large boxes of toys. We don’t mention this to pat ourselves on the back. We ain’t that special, but we do believe that toys are necessary tools to foster imagination, creativity and social development for kids (even ones my age). So, you know, look around and if you have a toy or two lying around that you ain’t using, maybe you could help put it in the hands of someone who will.

Thanks and have a Happy Super Awesome Day.
